Mindful walk and forest bathing through Wyming Brook Woods to Wyming Brook Cave, Head Stone, Oaking Clough, Brown Edge, and the Conduit. 6 to 10 miles (3-5 hours) depending on the appetite of the group on the day - priority will be for the walk to be relaxing mindful and interesting for every member of the group.
Overview
A leisurely walk of approximately 6 miles with plenty of interest. We will visit Wyming Brook Cave (reputed hiding place of infamous 19th century outlaw Charlie Peace), the Head Stone (close to the source of the River Rivelin), the site of the first world war practice trenches on Brown Edge (dug by the Sheffield Pals before their fateful departure for the Sommes), the conduit (great place to see the engineering that went into the construction of reservoirs outside Sheffield in the early 1900s) before passing the "dogs graves". The walk will include forest bathing provided by Helen Todd of Unfurling. Please wear sturdy footwear (preferably boots) and bring waterproof coat, one extra warm layer, hat, gloves, lunch, and water (preferably carried in a rucksack). Open Gates Outdoors has a stock of equipment that can be leant on request with your booking.
